Reach

  • The School-wide character education program builds on five pillars of good school citizenship: responsibility, respect, fairness, honesty, and caring.
  • The monthly Good Behavior Celebration honors students' hard work and good behavior.
  • Students in grades 3-6 volunteer through service projects within the school and beyond, learning the value of service to others.
  • WDTV, a production created, produced, directed, and televised by student volunteers, broadcasts live each morning.
  • Buddy classes support community building within our school.
  • Student council plans school - wide activities and projects, enhancing our school community.
  • Choir students in grades 5 & 6 perform as musical ambassadors at school and nursing home.
  • Children have an opportunity to enhance their thinking skills and expand their knowledge through participating in activities offered in our enrichment room or by working with the talented and gifted teacher.

Unique Programs Serve the Needs of Our Students

  • A "looping" model where the children and teacher stay together for two years and is implemented in grades 1-2, 3-4, and 5-6.
  • A Technology Integration/Collaboration Teacher works with teachers and students to integrate technology into the curriculum, building skills, and allowing students to demonstrate their knowledge through multiple applications.
  • An artist-in-residence program is implemented for children in grades 1-6, introducing them to various artists and mediums, and guiding them to create their own work.
  • A partnership with General Mills includes an e-mail mentor for each sixth grade student. Goals of this program include improvement of student writing and building a relationship with an adult in the business world.
  • A partnership with Office Depot provides two-ten week after school apprenticeship programs for selected fourth grade students who complete an application and interview
  • Kidstop, a before and after school fee-based child care program, is offered from 6:30 AM to 6:00 PM.
  • An all-day fee-based kindergarten and a full day four-year-old preschool program (Four Star Express) allow choice for families.
  • Eagle Adventures, an after school enrichment program, gives children opportunities beyond the classroom.
  • Strategies, a special education program that serves students from across the District, is hosted at Woodland . The program helps students who need specially designed instruction in a small group classroom setting to learn social/emotional and adaptive behavior skills.
  • An English Language Learner program serves children who are fortunate to have two languages and benefit from support in strengthening their English skills.
