Meet the Principal

Principal: Tim Brown

Family:  I live in Maple Grove with my wife Pam and our three children; Sophie (9), Erik (7), and Will (3).

Education: I earned my BA from the UM Twin Cities in Philosophy, my M. Ed. from Penn State University and my doctoral degree from the University of St. Thomas in Educational Leadership.  Once I learned how to learn, I just wanted to keep going. 

Where I Grew Up:  I had a great place to grow up about three hours northwest of here along the Pomme de Terre River.  I attended school in Ashby, MN in grades K through 12.

Hobbies/Interests: I love to take photographs and draw and do graphic design on my computer at home.  I also like to play piano and I have a drum set that I enjoy playing (when the house is empty).  My dad always had several old cars around while I was growing up so I developed an interest in old cars. 

What People Don't Know About Me:  I am a member of the White Earth Band of Ojibwe, I am the youngest of five, and I had to start college three times before I learned how to really study and do well.  

What Do You Like Most about Your Job:  I love to learn, so I love to be in a position to get teachers and students to flex their mental muscles all the time in various ways.  I also just love the energy that a building full of elementary students has and working with all the great adults on a daily basis. 

Favorite Books:  I loved Einstein’s Dreams by Alan Lightman, A Whole New Mind by Daniel Pink and The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. 

Favorite Movie:  O Brother Where Art Thou, Little Big Man, Big Fish are some of my favorites.
