Fifth Grade Social Studies Information

Goal

The goal of Social Studies in fifth grade is to develop an appreciation that much of our country’s history centers around finding the balance between providing for the individual rights and accepting the responsibility for the common good. This will be accomplished by studying United States history as a way of enriching our awareness of the past, our understanding of the present and planning for the future.

Grading

Students will be graded on individual and group projects, worksheets, quizzes, tests and class participation.

Homework

There will not be daily homework assignments given. Students will be expected to work on projects outside of classroom time as well as studying for tests and quizzes.

I am looking forward to working with your child this year. Please call or e-mail me at school if you have questions or concerns about Social Studies.

Sincerely,

Steve Folkerds
