Assignment Notebooks
We hope you are finding our assignment notebooks to be a helpful organizational tool for your child as well as a communication tool between school and home.

Students have been writing in all assignments and activities for each day and then indicating the areas they have completed.  We request that all students bring assignment notebooks home nightly to be shared and signed by parents. PLEASE NOTE: an assignment that has been circled in your child's log is homework.  We appreciate your help in getting us off to a good start with this.

Homework
Any assignments not finished in class are to be finished at home as homework.  Typically, a fifth grader will have no more than 30-60 minutes of homework a night.  We do encourage your child to spend at least 15 minutes nightly reading for pleasure.

Students are expected to study for tests in fifth grade.  Study materials will be sent home prior to any scheduled test along with a "Test Time" note announcing the upcoming test.

Special projects may be assigned throughout the school year and may require work at home.

Late Work
Late work will be accepted, however, 25% of the total points will be deducted from the earned score.

Absences
It is extremely important that your child is in school each day.  We request that any appointments be made outside of school hours if at all possible.  We ask that your child take the responsibility to make up missed work.  District policy states that no work is sent until the third day of absence unless requested.  Students who miss school due to family vacations will receive make-up work upon returning to school.
