FIRST GRADE NEWS

May is a very busy month for first graders. We will be starting a new PRIDE theme called Citizenship. We will be practicing ways we can show food citizenship.

During physical education we will be participating in Super Kid’s Day and Track and Field events.

Reading : We are enjoying a nonfiction article about bees. Please ask your child to discuss what they have learned about bees.

Math: We are learning how to add double digit numbers during math. Parents, thank you for your support in getting the math homework completed.

Finally, on Thursday, May 20, 2010 the first graders will be taking a field trip to the Oliver Kelly Historical Farm. Parents, please look for permission forms to come home in today’s Wednesday envelope. We will need parent volunteers to accompany us and help lead small groups of students. Please sign up on the bottom of the permission sheet if you can help us out. It would be most greatly appreciated.
