Welcome to the 2007/2008 school year from the PTO!
Welcome to the 2007/2008 school year from the PTO!
The PTO of Cedar Island is made up of parents, teachers, and staff who work together for a better Cedar Island Elementary School. We have two main purposes. First, we fundraise over $50,000 that helps pay for math and reading staff salaries, books for the media center, classroom supplies and other items for our school. Second, we sponsor family events that allow us to get to know the other families in our school community and enjoy an evening together.
In addition to our executive board, there are many other dedicated parents, teachers and staff who play a significant role in our success. We are grateful for everyone’s ideas, input, and actions – and encourage your involvement at our monthly meetings. Meetings are typically scheduled the first Thursday each month at 7:00 p.m. in the Media Center. Check out the meeting schedule on the Cedar Island website for the scheduled meeting dates.
Below are some of the fundraisers and activities sponsored by the PTO:
Fall Dance Bobcat Bash (Carnival)
Turkey Bingo School Parties
Teacher Appreciation Staff Year End Luncheon
Kids In Service Year End Event Fall Open House Ice Cream Social

Remember a quick and easy way to help us earn money for the school is to save your Kemps and Land O’Lakes milk caps, General Mills box tops, Campbell’s soup labels, and empty printer ink cartridges and send them to school with your child. Collection containers are in the volunteer room. Also use your Target red card and make sure Cedar Island is your designated school.
If you are interested in helping with any of these events, fill out the volunteer packet that is distributed in the fall Wednesday envelopes or contact Barb Lindsay, Cedar Island’s volunteer coordinator, at (763)315-7681 or lindsayb@district279.org. Any general questions about PTO can be directed to Bonnie Keating.
Thank you for your support. Have a great year!
