The Cat in the Hat Comes to Birch Grove Elementary School for the Arts

Students in grades 1-6 presented the musical Seussical, Jr. on March 6 and 7 to full house audiences. This bright, energetic musical featured some of Dr. Seuss’ most beloved characters including The Cat in the Hat, Horton the Elephant, Gertrude McFuzz, and the Whos of Whoville.

Students in the photo are Samantha Ruacho Lopez as The Cat, Adeliah Mulli as Jojo, Adam Guenther as Horton, Isabel Freund as Gertrude – the bird with one tail feather, and Vanessa Lassey as Mayzie. “It’s a lot of fun being in the show and a lot of hard work,” according to fifth graders Isabel Freund and Adeliah Mulli.

All students at Birch Grove have instruction in drama, music, and visual arts each week with arts specialists. The specially equipped visual arts studio, black box theater, and gymnasium provide unique environments for creativity and standards-based skill development.
