Congratulations Birch Grove!

Recipient of:

2007 Escher Award
2007 Magnet School of Distinction Award
Math Matters Grant
Picturing America Grant

The past year Birch Grove Elementary School for the Arts made some amazing strides. We were the recipient of the Magnet School of Distinction Award by Magnet Schools of America (MSA). This national award is based on a commitment to high academic standards, curriculum innovation, successful desegregation/diversity efforts, and the consistent delivery of quality services to all school stakeholders. In addition, Birch Grove received the Escher Award from NWSISD for the greatest transition in becoming an Arts Magnet School.

These successes did not come easy. They came with the help of everyone--an entire village coming together to not only provide our families the power to exercise choice but a wonderful conducive learning environment for all. Our great Osseo- District 279 leaders---Assistant Superintendent Maguire, Superintendent Hintz and many others at the district level, our committed community and their unwavering support, my dedicated staff and their talented undying work ethnic, and of course our partnership with Northwest Suburban Integration School District made all of this possible. My philosophy as principal is, “It takes a village to raise a child.” It takes all of us to see the importance of investing in today’s youth for tomorrow’s future. Our students are indeed our future leaders.

There's a saying which goes something like this: Bread cast on the waters comes back to you.

This saying reminds us of the importance of giving. Your contribution to district 279 whether great or small, time, talent or monetary is imperative in ensuring “all” of our students are successful. As we continue our steadfast focus on academic excellence in and through the arts we will continue to need YOUR support! Your active involvement in all facets of public education is not only necessary but imperative to ensure success on behalf of children.

The good deed you do today may benefit you or someone you love at the least expected time.  If you never see the deed again at least you will have made the world a better place - And, after all, isn't that what life is all about?

At Birch Grove, we would like to thank you for your contribution to making us successful. We look forward to an outstanding school year where each child shines in his or her own special artful way while not only sustaining but thriving on the integrity of state and district standards!  We look forward to a fabulous school year and your continual community support!

Most sincerely,

MaLie Amanda Lee, Principal
