ELM - Information Gold Mine
Can’t find that old article from Newsweek or the Star Tribune? You think, “Maybe it’s on the web…” But what do you do if you can’t access popular magazines and newspapers online? The Electronic Library for Minnesota (ELM) is the answer! With ELM, a state-funded virtual library of databases, you can access articles in text form (some in PDF format) from thousands of current and past popular magazines, newspapers and journals right now. It’s a gold mine of information.

Fernbrook Alumni are Recipients of State Music Awards
Every year, all 6th grade students compose an original piece of music and perform their works for their classes. In April 2006, all 6th grade students had the option to participate in Fernbrook’s 3rd Annual Sixth Grade Composition Recital. There were approximately 10 works presented at the recital. The works that were performed were then compiled to create an audio CD. This CD, in turn, was sent to the State Music Educators’ Conference, and the works were judged by professional composers and compared to pieces which were submitted by other music teachers throughout the state of Minnesota.

Zack Gawboy’s piece was entitled, "Opus 1" and was written for the B-flat trumpet. Zack earned a highly respected, "Honorable Mention," for his work. Mitchell Abeln’s piece was written for the French horn, and was titled, "Military March." Mitchell earned a 3rd place award for his composition. Both composers are currently in 7th grade at Osseo Junior High. Congratulations to these Fernbrook alumni!

Osseo Senior High School’s Program Recognized on Channel 12
Channel 12 profiled Osseo Senior High School recently to highlight the conference sportsmanship program. Adam Holm, District Activities Coordinator, did a great job representing our District. If you have not seen the spot, click on the link below, scroll down to "People Segment Nov. 24 - Dec. 1", and click on the "Play Video" link under the NWSC logo. Be patient; it takes a minute to load the clip, but it is worth the wait.
