Osseo Adult Basic Education (ABE) offers free classes for adults to improve academic and English skills so you can move ahead in your job, prepare for further education and training, or improve your daily life. Our caring, patient teachers will help you achieve your goal!  Learn English, improve your reading, writing or math skills, prepare for the GED exam, earn your adult diploma, develop family reading skills, learn skills for the workplace or help adults in educational settings.

 

 Adult Diploma

It is never too late to finish your high school credential!  Our Adult high school diploma program offers a standard competency-based diploma that is issued by the state department of education for adults that completes our ABE program.An adult can be eligible for this diploma program if they do not have a diploma, are not participating with K-12 services, are age 19 and older, and are eligible for ABE program services.Gather past high school transcripts, experience and training from work or school and work with an advisor to see how close you might be to earning a credential.


GED Preparation

Osseo ABE offers preparation in all areas of the GED exam: math, science, social studies, and reading/language arts.  Our GED Prep classes offer classroom instruction, computer-assisted learning, independent study, and practice tests to help students pass the GED exam.  Day and evening classes are available.  A distance learning option (i-Pathways) is also available for eligible students. 


Academic Skills

ABE ManOsseo ABE helps adult learners who want to improve their reading, math or writing skills.  Some learners need to brush up on their skills before taking an employment test or college entrance exam. English Language (ELL/ESL)

Adult ELL LearnersLearn skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing English.  Osseo ABE offers six levels of ESL classes from beginning to advanced.  Students take placement tests and then are placed in a class that best meets their needs.

Family Literacy

ECFEScreening

Osseo ABE partners with Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) to offer family literacy classes.  Parents study English, participate in a parenting education class, and have learning time with their children. Children must be between 2-1/2 to 4 years old.

We want community members to get involved! No level of involvement is too little! Both day and evening opportunities are available. An application needs to be completed to get started in our volunteer program.
