Every three years our district partners with the Minnesota Departments of Education, Employment and Economic Development, Health and Human Services, and Public Safety by asking students in 5th, 8th, 9th and 11th grade to participate in the Minnesota Student Survey. Osseo Area Schools has participated in the survey since 1992.
The survey is anonymous and confidential. Students do not provide their names, student identification numbers or other personal information. No individuals or their families can be identified. The results are reported on the school district’s students as a whole. The privacy of students is protected. This data provides students, parents, schools and their communities a dynamic vehicle for on-going communication about issues vital to the health, safety and academic success of youth.
The survey is voluntary. You may choose to have your son or daughter not take the survey. Students may decline to take any part of the survey or the whole survey and are informed of that option by staff. The survey will be given between January and April 2013. Each building will determine the specific date the survey will be given at that site.
Parents/guardians can have their child opt out of the survey and may request to view the survey questions before making that decision. Parents of students in grades 5, 8, 9, and 11will receive notification in January 2013 with information on how to review the survey and/or have their child opt out of the survey.
