Immunization clinics available this fall at NVJH, BJH for ISD 279 students
The Osseo Area Schools and the Northwest Hennepin Family Services Collaborative are teaming up to provide two immunization clinics this fall:
- Wednesday, August 25 from 9:30-11 a.m. in the nurse’s office at Brooklyn Junior High
- Thursday, August 26 from 3-6 p.m. in the cafeteria of North View Junior High
These clinics are for families who do not have health insurance, who are enrolled in a Minnesota Health Care Program, or for those whose insurance does not cover immunizations.
About these clinics:
- Appointments are not necessary
- A parent or guardian must accompany their child
- All elementary, junior high and senior high ISD 279 students are welcome
- Bring a current immunization record. If you do not have one, one will be available for all enrolled students.
- The “Minnesota Vaccine for Children” program will cover the cost of vaccines for those without insurance.
See the list of immunizations required by Minnesota State law for more information.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Beginning September 1, 2010, Minnesota schools can no longer accept a parent/guardian’s signature as proof that a child has had chickenpox and is therefore exempt from the varicella vaccine requirement. Instead, a health care provider must sign a form stating that the child does not need varicella shot(s) based upon medical verification that the child is indeed immune. Learn more.
If you have questions about immunizations, contact Julie Bocock, Health Services Coordinator, at 763-391-7126, or call Julie Stein, Immunization Nurse at the Northwest Immunization Clinic, at 763-585-7361.
