OARE - Holiday Scholarship Breakfast As a part of OARE’s community service, a Holiday Scholarship Breakfast is served annually to provide college scholarships for ISD 279 seniors. Last year, three deserving area high school seniors were awarded scholarships of $1200 each. The entire community is invited to attend the breakfast that will be held on Friday,November 30, 2007. It will be held in the Osseo Senior High School cafeteria (317-2nd Avenue NW, Osseo) from 6:00-9:00 a.m. The menu will include homemade Belgian waffles, fruit toppings, sausage, orange juice, milk and coffee. In addition to the fabulously delicious breakfast, district employee and retired educator crafters will display charming, unique, and reasonably priced items for sale during the breakfast. Take a leisurely stroll through some wonderful home and gift items, enjoy a tasty meal, and help contribute to higher education for deserving seniors. The reservation deadline is November 20, 2007. The cost of a ticket is an affordable $7. The public may obtain tickets by calling Jan in Community Education at (763) 391-7114. Tickets will be picked up at the door. If you are unable to attend the breakfast, your donation to the scholarship fund would be greatly appreciated. Make your check payable to OARE and send it to the Educational Service Center, Attn: Jan, Community Education, 11200 - 93rd Avenue North, Maple Grove, MN 55369. Once a giver, always a giver. That’s exactly what the Osseo Area Retired Educators (OARE) are all about. This twenty-two-year-old organization is made up of many retired school employees that reside in the ISD 279-Osseo Area Schools’ district or who have worked in our schools. This group enjoys social activities, but puts its emphasis on service projects. These projects have included distributing free books to all ISD 279 students, working with adults in the English Language Learner (ELL) programs, and assisting with the area school supplies drive.
